big adventure

charity trek - mission accomplished!

In July 2010 I decided to embark on a huge challenge to trek 60km in the Indian Himalayas to raise money for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre at St James Hospital Leeds, after I was treated there for ovarian cancer last May.

...well I did it! In May 2011, my training paid off as I endured a gruelling trek in unseasonally hot weather from Mcleod Ganj in Dharamsala up as far as the snow line and glacier at 3300 metres on the Dhauladaur range! I travelled with a wonderful group, we were all in it together - facing injuries, stomach upsets, spicy curries up to 3 times a day, long hours travelling, tiredness but enjoying the wonderfully rich and colourful Indian culture. All topped off with a visit to the majestic Taj Mahal!

Well done to our group raising over £70k which will fund specialist equipment, research, and home from home comforts for cancer patients in wards, who come to the Oncology Unit from all over Yorkshire. THANKS also to all of you for your sponsors, support and time - it has really paid off!

My justgiving.com website is still up and running so there is still time to donate any amount big or small.

Lots of love, Rebecca xxx
